What Do We Do When Hope Seems Lost? The book of Jeremiah brings us into an emotional moment in Israel’s history, when God’s people turned away from him and faced the consequences of their rebellion. Through the ministry of Jeremiah, the reluctant but faithful prophet, we see the severity of God’s justice and the tenderness of his grief through repeated calls for repentance, the consequences of disobedience, and the eventual fall of Jerusalem. The book of Jeremiah isn’t without hope. Even amid destruction, God promises to accomplish a new work among his people that we can enjoy now and forever.
